‘Everything feels so light, fresh and organised!’

Realising that they were never going to afford a house in the London suburb where they'd been living in a two-bedroom flat, Jade and Jon Severs made the decision to move south to the coast seven years ago, ‘It was a big change, but one we were happy to make. We'd had the boys, we wanted a house with a garden, and we loved the idea of being close to the sea,’ says Jade.

The couple settled on the town of Havant, near Portsmouth, as it's an easy commute to London, and initially found a four-bedroom Edwardian semi, which they totally renovated and made their own. ‘I have to say it did put me off period properties though, with the amount there was to do,’ says Jade. ‘I don't think I'd take on a property of that age again.’

Jade and Jon squared off the house, adding an extension on the second floor to create an extra bedroom. Meanwhile,
