Both “lumpsucker” and “lumpfish” are very unfortunate common names for Eumicrotremus awae. I much prefer what the Japanese affectionately call them: “balloon fish”. Indeed, there is no other fish more adorable than a lumpsucker – except perhaps a baby lumpsucker!
