HACKS OR NOT? DIY Guide
By now, most of you will have found a list on one of the popular social media platforms that supposedly has all the answers for your camping questions. There are camping hacks aplenty on the web, but some are more effective than others. We tried some of the more popular ones ourselves so that you can make an informed choice before you cut up anything.
PRE-MADE BREAKFAST
What is it?
Instead of lugging around a fragile tray of eggs, why not just reuse the cold drink or water bottles that have a pull spout? These could even come with your plastic sauce bottles.
Does it work?
Well everyone must agree to scrambled eggs first. You can easily fit 18 eggs in a 500 ml bottle, plus some milk and cream cheese for added flavour.
Got a few more of these bottles lying around? Prepare other favourites for breakfast, such as pancake or flapjack mix. Keep them chilled.
PADDED FLOOR
What is it?
The interlocking mats that you use in the kids’ bedroom, those you might find at a creche or pre-school, or even at the gym, should also make an excellent floor for the inside of your tent, right?
Especially when your children are old enough to no longer need them.
Does it work?
Well, your ground sheet doesn't really make the inside of your tent comfortable.
Even if you don't have kids, these are relatively inexpensive. Just make sure that the section of the stand you pitch on is quite level, or that the grass isn't long, because if your tent floor has humps and bumps, that affects how well
