Getting up from the chair, I steadied myself as my head spun furiously. ‘These dizzy spells are getting worse,’ I sighed to my husband Brian, then 55.

I’d been back and forth to the doctor for over 18 months. But my GP just put it down to menopause and high blood pressure.

So I plodded on and learned to live with it, as I got on with my job as a finance officer.

Ah well, I’ve got a holiday coming up soon, I reasoned.
