ATMOSPHERE
WHEN Inder Bassi and Alfie Winter clashed for the vacant Southern Area welterweight title at York Hall, the shock wasn’t so much that Bassi triumphed, but that it was all over inside the first round.
With Winter boasting just one early win in his seven-fight unbeaten record, and Bassi having gone the distance in all his nine victories (against one loss), this 10-rounder atop the TM14/Mo Prior promotion seemed a good bet to need the scorecard of referee Mark Bates.
