Pat in the Pan with a Potato Masher
When Timothy W. Haasken of Blacksburg, Va., is making a recipe that calls for a pat-in-the-pan crust, he reaches for his potato masher. He has found that the flat plate of the masher, its grid covered with foil, is an excellent tool for neatly pressing the crumbs into the bottom of the pie pan.
