When advertising the Mini in the early ’80s, BL tended to adopt a humorous approach. The car was great fun to drive, so why shouldn’t its advertising and marketing be equally entertaining? So, when the latest versions were announced using the same high-economy A-series engines as the Metro HLE, this advert jokingly referred to the latest Mini as the E-type.
