Luby, the Douglas Rod Type

THE CIRCLE OF LIFE

Pete Guppy is one of the giants of the British scooter scene, especially within the Vespa movement. He’s a true gentleman, great fun to be around and always brightens up any room with his presence and constant smile. His is a story that has been well documented within the scootering press on several occasions previously.

What hasn’t been talked about quite as much is Luby, a 1953 Vespa Douglas Rod Type that he’s owned on and off since the late Sixties; a little green British-built Vespa that is of enormous importance to the scootering world and especially the Veteran Vespa Club.

A GUPPY REFRESHER

Peter Guppy purchased his first scooter in 1961; it was a Vespa 42L2 or 92L2, he can’t quite remember now; but this was his entry into the world of Vespa, and a world that he has remained in ever since.
