inger-actor Ed Ames, 95—best-known for having played an Oxford–educated half-British Cherokee named Mingo on the 1964–70 TV series , starring Fess Parker—died in Beverly Hills, Calif., on May 21, 2023. Born Edmund Dantes Urick, the youngest of nine children born to Jewish Ukrainian immigrants, he and three brothers formed the Ames Brothers quartet, which achieved nationwide popularity in the 1950s. Before and after his signature TV, a 1967 Burt Kennedy film co-starring John Wayne and Kirk Douglas.
