In the much-missed golden age of British rallying, the Open Championship had household names like Jimmy McRae, Russell Brooks, Tony Pond and David Llewellin. Over the Channel in Belgium at the same time, they had their own trinity of rallying superstars who were unbeatable on their home turf and who held their own at the top level of the European scene: Patrick Snijers, Marc Duez and Robert Droogmans.
This month we take a look at one of Robert Droogmans’ RAS Motorsports-prepared Sierra RS Cosworths, which is now at home in Jiri Jirovec’s massive collection of WRC cars in the Czech Republic.
In the late 1980s, Droogmans was at the peak of his skills, winning his first championship in the
