The next Tour de France will not finish in Paris. It’s going to take me the next eleven months to get used to this fact, and a good few years after the event to process it. Instead of the traditional laps of the Champs Elysées, the race will come to a close in Nice; the reason being that Paris is hosting the small matter of the Olympic Games and could therefore do without the added annoyance of shutting down
