Papaya or pawpaw

Spring is the time when papayas, or pawpaws, are at their absolute best. At this time of year, temperate fruit trees, such as apples and pears, are still waking up from winter dormancy, but the tropical papaya tree, which never seems to be without at least a few fruits, crops most abundantly.
