The 15-year production run of the split rear window on the Beetle came to an end in March 1953, with the introduction of the Oval Window. That was then replaced with the first of the rectangular windows for the 1958 model year. That makes the Oval Window the shortest production run of all the models, only built for five years, yet it is a very popular style with toy manufacturers, and enthusiasts.
