RET faction weakened by Mkhwebane decision

Ramaphosa emerged victorious against the RET faction, which had been weakened by the dismissal of former ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule and former spokesperson Carl Niehaus, who recently established different political parties.

Ramaphosa had been facing a challenge from Magashule, Niehaus and their allies, known as the RET faction, which faction wants to see a more radical shift in economic policy, away from free market capitalism and towards more state intervention.
