IN MY article of July 19 2023, I discussed the breeding results of my April pairings and some of those set a month earlier. As with the first round, subsequent rounds have also had mixed fortunes. The dark-eyed white hen initially produced only a chocolate and white chick, which was joined by two foster chicks. The second and third clutches had only infertile eggs, so I set a replacement pair.

The three chestnut & white pairs given a second opportunity have had disappointing results, with only two more chicks in addition to the four chicks mentioned
