Flying FAREWELL

Allen Gyde

ALLEN Gyde's lifelong passion for hot rodding has sadly ended with his recent passing, but not without leaving many milestone memories that endure today. Aside from his good self and those fond memories, his first hot rod, bought in 1959, still survives today in the ownership of Squeak Bell. Other milestones include many mentions in NZHRM; one in particular in our June 1979 issue was penned by our illustrious editor at the time, Rob Campbell. When I read that article, I thought it appropriate to republish it as a tribute to Al from Rob, who knew him well from those early pioneering days, and to follow up with Squeak on the status and progress of the roadster.
