Ian McLaughlin now resides in South Wales but his classic Ford story starts when he was just six, living in the shadow of the fabled Donington Park Racing Circuit. “The Ford thing is just something you have in you. As a kid growing, up my Dad had big Zephyrs and Zodiacs. We used to go and watch the racing and on one occasion I saw a Mk1 Escort in the Alan Mann Racing livery and I just absolutely loved it. The rallying Escorts obviously enjoy legendary status but people forget how successful the platform was in racing right back in 1968.”

Ian has an extensive car and motorcycle history. After enjoying bikes from childhood, his first foray into four wheels was with a Sunburst Red Escort XR3 when he was 19.
