SPOTLESS GIRAFFE

A zoo in northeastern Tennessee has welcomed a rare reticulated giraffe born without any spots. After sharing photos on Facebook and reaching out to professionals around the world, Brights Zoo stated, “Giraffe experts believe she is the only solid-coloured reticulated giraffe living anywhere on the planet.” The last spotless giraffe was reportedly born in 1972 in Japan. After almost 40,000 votes from the public, the new arrival’s name was declared as Kipekee, the Swahili word for unique. With giraffes developing their individual spot patterns whilst growing inside their mother, it means Kipekee won’t ever have spots, instead she is covered in light-brown-coloured fur.
