There’s a lot going on at Star Hill Farm, located on 1,100 picturesque acres in Marion County, Kentucky about 60 miles southwest of Louisville. A recently installed apiary’s bees produced 30 pounds of honey its first year. Edible fungi are thriving on logs in the Mushroom Quarry. And in a grove of hazelnuts, pecans, and oaks, the roots of which have been inoculated with truffle spores, harvestable truffles will be ready in about five years.
