Coping with... STOMACH CANCER

ADVICE FROM OUR WOMAN’S WEEKLY DOCTOR

The exact cause of stomach smokers, and people whose diet is low in fibre, and high in processed, salted and pickled foods. Those with a family history of stomach cancer or a condition called familial adenomatous polyposis, people who have had other cancers or stomach surgery, and those who’ve had gastric infection caused by Helicobacter pylori are at greater risk too.

Initial symptoms include persistent indigestion, discomfort, nausea, difficulty swallowing, bloating or trapped wind. Symptoms may be vague and easily mistaken for less serious problems, so this can delay the diagnosis if you ignore them. Later
