When Denise Nel started searching for a house in 2008, she had a specific area in mind. “I grew up in Randburg, studied and worked in Pretoria, then spent two years in London and have been back in Jo’burg since about 2007,” says Denise. “The older parts of this city are special to me, and I searched for a house in Parkhurst for a long time because I like the wide streets and huge trees. But the prices were a little out of my reach. Then one day I chanced upon this house in Linden – it was old and neglected, but it spoke to me!”
