If ever there was a story where parental influence plays a part in the outcome, Alex Boughen’s is it. Those pesky guardians have an awful lot to answer for here, not least for dragging 20-year-old Alex up proper and blessing him with an irreverent sense of style and a decidedly non-conformist attitude to automobiles. Mum and Dad, Beverley and Andrew were most definitely part of the late 80s VW uprising when you could buy a rusty old Beetle or a slightly knackered Split Screen / Bay Window for less than £500 and keep it on the road for not a lot more. Pastel paint, Empi 8s, DIY paintjobs, short shorts and just existing in a field seemed to be the order of the day back then. Ah, the good ol’ days, eh?
