There’s nothing more serene than a festive river cruise, meandering from one town to the next, sipping hot cocoa or a gluhwein and taking in the twinkling lights and sights along the way.
Our Christmas-markets river cruise aboard Viva Cruises’ newly built Viva One began with a flight to Frankfurt, followed by a train ride to Koblenz, the German city where the Rhine and Moselle meet.
The wintry air was bracing and a short taxi ride later, we were grateful for the warm – in all senses of the word – welcome on board. A stunning display of decorated gingerbread houses filled the Panorama Lounge, set on the same level as reception, along with a glorious array of homemade cakes
