ÑUÑOA, CHILE
OCTOBER 19-27
CUBAN greats Julio Cesar La Cruz and Arlen Lopez will be heading to Paris next summer looking for a third Olympic gold after qualifying through the Panamerican Games in Chile.
La Cruz [inset] will be defending the heavyweight title in France, while Lopez looks to make it back-to-back light-heavyweight golds.
La Cruz, gold medallist at light-heavyweight in Rio in 2016, was pushed by Andrews Salgado (Chile) in a competitive quarter-final before securing his place in Paris with a 4-1 split points win over Julio Cesar Castillo Torres (Ecuador) in the last four.
In the final, la Cruz faced (Brazil) and produced a strong finish to take the unanimous decision.
