UK VAT worries
![f0012-05](https://article-imgs.scribdassets.com/2r6gyce11cbndsut/images/file9XDZFQPD.jpg)
My boat was built in the EU and EU VAT was paid in 2018, and is kept in the EU.
Because it hadn’t been to the UK before Brexit and with the confusion at the time, I brought the boat back to the UK in December 2020, before the deadline, and it remained here until August 2021, when I took it back to its mooring in the EU.
At that time it was mentioned that it would be necessary to return to the UK every three years to retain the UK VAT status, which means it should be returned here by the end of July 2024, and so on.
Is that still the case as I will want to bring the boat back here eventually and obviously don’t want to have a huge VAT bill?
