Musing on air accidents

New Zealand has and long and sad history of air accidents. In some cases, crash sites remained unknown for 40 years or more due to our unforgiving backblocks geology. Few such sites are accessible, even today. But Geoff Anders has been thinking about the air crash sites he has seen over the years.

During 4wd explorations I’ve seen the wreckage of three air crashes. None were survivable, eleven people died. All resulted from attempts to fly mountain passes in poor weather conditions with low cloud.
