Whatever's happening elsewhere in the world, keep the home fires burning with a luscious, sticky-fingered Christmas pudding. It's best made with butcher's beef-suet. But it's fiddly to prepare, as you have to separate the creamy little globules of fat from the membrane (dust your fingers with flour to stop it sticking).
