N FEBRUARY 1972, I opened my mailbox and found my first subscribed issue of . I remember the cover well, the colorful Red-Legged Devils of the 14th Brooklyn fueled my imagination and passion. Skip ahead to 2008, when somehow that kid became the editor of this magazine. Every day I went to work, no exaggeration, I could not believe how fortunate I was. For 15 years and 92 issues, I have had the pleasure of working with academics, National Park Service employees, museum professionals, and “ordinary” people who have provided incredible, diverse content. I’ve had the great fortune to work with people who have shared my passion for putting out the best issue possible, time after time. Huzzah! And I have been constantly grateful for you, dear readers. The people who share my passion. I’ve appreciated every comment—even when you are mad at me—every quiz answer, every time you told me how much you enjoyed a First Mondays broadcast. And now, my campaign here has ended. I am leaving and this will be my last issue. I won’t be leaving the Civil War, though, but going to a new field of harvest where I’ll get to work on exhibits, publications, and interpretation. I’ll see you again, dear readers. I can’t thank you enough.
