ADD-ON REAR EMERGENCY BRAKE
Q: I have restored a 1926 Indy race car and I have put disc brakes on the rear axle. What I don’t have is an emergency brake. Do you have any suggestions on how or what I might do? I called Wilwood, but because my rotors are only 9⁄32-inch thick, their electronic emergency brake won’t work (Wilwood p/n 140-15978). I’m open to either a mechanical or battery-powered set up.

A: You didn’t say what rear differential you used in the restoration, but we will assume it wasn’t a Ford 9-inch.
