hrough winter’s darkest days, you can to lift the spirits as it produces its heads of white or pink tinged flowers above glossy evergreen foliage. Yes, it can be seen adorning many a car park, but there’s a reason for its repeated planting: utter reliability. The cultivar ‘Eve Price’ is easy to find, or try to track down the harder to source ‘Pink Prelude’. It has deeper pink buds that open to white flowers, which turn back to pink again. ‘Purpureum’ has blackberry-tinted new shoots, while jolly ‘Variegatum’ has cream-edged leaves. All are as easy as anything to grow.
