Trailblazing into 2024

As 2023 gives way Club, a unique assembly of mountaineers, has embarked on a daring journey to welcome the new year in spectacular fashion. On Dec. 30 and 31, these intrepid climbers ascend the icy slopes of Barr Trail on the east face of Pikes Peak, culminating in a dazzling fireworks display at midnight from the summit. When they reach the timberline, the climbers flash mirrors towards their loved ones in the Colorado Springs area, a glinting signal of their progress and a precursor to the evening’s spectacle. The final leg of the ascent, a challenging climb from timberline to the 14,110-foot summit, tests the climbers’ mettle. They brave icy and snow-swept slopes, often facing wind chills as low as -50 degrees. But the reward is immeasurable. As the new year rings in, the AdAmAn members and their guests ignite a glorious fireworks display from the summit that, on a clear night, can be seen for hundreds of miles along the Front Range and the eastern plains—a luminous herald of the year to come. After celebrating their 100th annual climb to ring in 2023, the AdAmAn Club is geared up to go again to help Coloradans ring in 2024.
