TAKING LIFE OUT ON THE ROAD

THE ROAD IS OUR HOME

Rob and Emily decided working six days a week just to go on holiday once a year felt like a raw deal. They wanted something more fulfilling and enjoyable, so they came up with a plan: convert a van into a home that they could live, work and travel the world in!

Two main deciding factors brought us to living in a converted van: travel and debt. We were working long hours in unfulfilling jobs, struggling to pay the rent, and travelling was just a dream.

One evening, we came across a video of a young chap who had travelled the world without a penny to his name. He thumbed lifts, couch-surfed and backpacked his way around the globe. He worked in temporary jobs along the way, living the simple life but really experiencing everything our planet has to offer. This was a turning point for us; the inspiration we needed to look at things a little differently and take control of our future.

Freedom to travel

The idea of converting a van didn’t come to us at first, but when it did, it made perfect sense. It would give us the freedom to travel in comfort, the chance to take any opportunities that came our way and the ability to pay off the huge debts that had haunted
