A GROWING PROBLEM
Probably not the time to raise this, but it’s not just the goose getting fat, is it? The latest Health Survey for England stats estimate that 25.9% of us are obese and a further 37.9% are overweight. Even more depressing, 23.4% of 10-11-year-olds are obese and 14.3% overweight.
Obesity costs the NHS around £6.5 billion a year and is the second biggest preventable cause of cancer. From sugar taxes to cracking down on fast-food joints near schools, governments have tried various solutions, but none seem to work.
