AINTER MAYNARD Dixon (1875-1946) spent his career trying to capture “ideals of truthfulness.” His images of cowboys, such as to Market (1936), personify the Western landscape with the spirited farmhands that he depicts. And, scenes of the landscape, such as (1935), image the West as a space for reflection with their vast cloudless skies and endless plains punctuated by (March 2-July 28, 2024) provides the first comprehensive documentation of the artist’s wanderings through the state.
