Materials
• Assorted print fabrics to total about 5.5m (6yd)
• Jelly roll of assorted ombre print fabrics or 40 strips, 2½in x width of fabric of various ombre fabrics
• 3.1m (3½yd) dark multi-coloured print fabric
• 4.2m (4⅝yd) backing fabric
• Batting at least 210cm x 180cm (82in x 70in)
• Light cardboard
• Rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat
• Sewing machine with ¼in foot
• General sewing supplies
Preparation and cutting
1 Trace the two circles for this project from the Pattern Sheet onto paper. Cut them out roughly and glue them to cardboard. Once the glue has dried, cut the circles out on the traced lines.
From the assorted print fabrics, cut:
• 1062 rectangles, 1½in x 2½in (geese)
• 2124 squares, 1½in (sky)
Tonia used light value fabrics for most of the 1½in squares and medium and dark value fabrics for most of the rectangles.
From the ombre print fabrics, cut:
• 20 sets of shapes, where each set is: two rectangles, 2½in x 4½in; two rectangles, 2½in x 8½in; and four squares, 2½in all
