Every morning at training camp, Levi Wallace would approach rookie cornerbacks Joey Porter Jr. and Corey Trice Jr. and ask them to give him a goal they were going to accomplish on that day.
His goal was not to embarrass or put the young players on the spot. No, Wallace’s goal was to make the Steelers two rookie cornerbacks better. His reasoning was that if they were better, they would in turn make the team better.
“I started giving them goals every day,” Wallace said during training camp.
“I’ll ask what their goal is every day, and if they don’t have any, I’ll give them one. I want the best for them. It’s a unique environment. You’re competing for a job, but at the same time, you’re building chemistry.”
