When I tell people I’m heading to Vomo Island, the reply is mostly, “where’s that?” It’s hard to imagine there are parts of Fiji that Aussies aren’t familiar with because, frankly, we’re obsessed with the place. And what’s not to love? Fiji is an easy four-ish-hour flight from Sydney, boasts countless family-friendly resorts and offers luxury at a reasonable price. It’s an easy sell.
For those not familiar, Vomo Island is just one of the (mostly uninhabited) islands in the Mamanuca Island group, right at the cusp of the Yasawa Islands. It’s a 35-minute speedboat ride from Vuda Marina, or a 15-minute chopper ride from Nadi International Airport.
Vomo Island is a tropical paradise in every sense. Think crystal-clear waters, colourful coral-like villas and private residences that dot the shore. All accommodation offerings easily fit in the laid-back Fijian luxury category. But now Vomo Island has welcomed a sixth private residence, The Reef House, which takes island luxury to new levels.
