SANDY MCLEAN claimed his third winter classic grand prix of the season – and his second victory on the bounce – when he piloted his own Eagele Z to the fastest of two double clears.

His recent track record is all the more remarkable as he has taken each win on a different horse, heading Northcote with Gino F and Hartpury with Zoey 12 before claiming Onley’s with the 15.2hh “Eagle”.

“It’s making 2024 look like it’s going to be quite cool – hopefully we’ll have a good year going by the stats!” he said.
