HENRY HALTS WORLD CHAMPION

A FIELD littered with international medallists descended on the National Stadium as the Irish Under-18 Championships reached their conclusion.

All eyes were on the light-welter final, which pitted 2023 World Junior champion Síofra Lawless against 2022 European Junior gold medallist Ava Henry. Following a fast start from Dubliner Henry, Wicklow’s Lawless was using her physicality before a dramatic finish in the second round. Henry bloodied her younger opponent’s nose and forced two counts to finish the bout.

Lawless’s Four Kings BC teammate fared better. The, barely getting out of second gear to take a unanimous decision.
