Hijackings on the rise

A DEMAND for certain makes of vehicles has left motorists at risk of being hijacked.

In some instances, victims are taken with their vehicles, assaulted or even killed.

Over the past few weeks, there have been several reports of hijackings across the province.

Last month, a Chatsworth man was hijacked and taken in his VW Tiguan. He was later left in uMlazi.

A few days later, the driver of a Toyota Hilux double-cab was hijacked by four men. The suspects fired shots as they fled.

Recent CCTV footage captured two men assaulting a driver with a firearm, before fleeing in his Toyota.
