BUD HARRELSON MADE HIS MARK WITH METS FOR THREE DECADES
Bud Harrelson, a scrappy big league shortstop, major league coach and manager and later part owner of the independent Long Island Ducks, died on Jan. 11. He was 79.
Harrelson is best known for his association with the Mets and is the only person to take part in both of the franchise’s World Series championship teams. He was a slick-fielding shortstop for the 1969 Miracle Mets and third base coach for the 1986 champions who won 108 games.
The Mets signed Harrelson out of San Francisco State in 1963. In 1967 he assumed regular shortstop duties
