Fettercairn Distillery

First opening in 1824, Fettercairn Distillery sits in the beautiful Howe of Mearns, in the foothills of the Grampian Mountains. The distillery was founded by Sir Alexander Ramsay, one of the Scottish landowners who campaigned to license Scotch whisky distillation. Ramsay also recruited illegal whisky makers to be his first stillmen – only they had the advanced skills he needed to create his whisky. With a recently refurbished visitor centre, Fettercairn is excited to welcome visitors in 2024 to demonstrate its unique distilling process, and to provide guided tastings of its whisky, known for its distinctive
