POETS & WRITERS MAGAZINE ANNOUNCES application information for writers conferences, literary festivals, and residencies of interest to poets, fiction writers, creative nonfiction writers, and translators. Applications for the following events are due shortly. Conferences and festivals with rolling, first-come, first-served admission are listed well in advance. Some accept registration on the date of the event. Contact the sponsoring organization for an application and complete guidelines. When requesting information by mail, enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE). All accessibility information has been provided by the sponsoring organizations.

American University of Paris Summer Creative Writing Institute

The American University of Paris Summer Creative Writing Institute offers workshops to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers from July 1 to July 23 on the university’s campus in the seventh arrondissement of Paris. The faculty includes poet and fiction writer Siân Dafydd and poet and nonfiction writer Biswamit Dwibedy. The cost of tuition is €2,156 (approximately $2,341) for auditors; the cost of tuition for transferable academic credit is €4,312 (approximately $4,681). Lodging is available in residence halls and is arranged through the university. To apply, submit a personal statement and academic transcripts (or a copy of a tertiary degree for auditors) with a €50 (approximately $54) application fee by June 1. To apply for one of three travel stipends of up to €500 (approximately $543), submit via e-mail a creative writing sample of three to five poems of any length or 5 to 10 pages of prose and a paragraph explaining how this course in Paris might help you develop as a writer, in addition to the completed summer application materials and fee, by March 29. A Rally of Writers

The 37th annual A Rally of Writers conference will be held on April 13 at the West Campus of Lansing Community College in Lansing, Michigan. The conference features workshops, panel discussions, and readings in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. Participating writers include poets Laura Apol and Masaki Takahashi; fiction writers Erin Bartels, Steven Harper Piziks, Lev Raphael, Jay Whistler, and Claudia Whitsitt; and nonfiction writer Andrea King Collier. Poet Nandi Comer will give the keynote address. The cost of the conference is $112 ($77 for students) with registration by April 1 and $127 ($90 for students) by April 13. Arteles Creative Center

The Arteles Creative Center Fall Into Focus Residency Program offers one or two-month residencies to poets, fiction writers, nonfiction writers, and translators from September to November in the countryside region of Hämeenkyrö, Finland. Creative writers age 23 and over are eligible. Each resident is provided with a private bedroom and working desk as well as access to shared kitchens, bathrooms, and studio spaces in two residency buildings. The residency also offers access to a range of facilities, including a library, a meditation space, a sauna, and common areas.
