Philip De Quincy from Shropshire has been collecting tractors since 2010 and owns one of the few surviving Thirties Cockshutt Hart-Parrs.
Adaptable
“The family has lived here for many years, but we stopped farming in the Eighties,” he explained. “Although we have over 200 acres, much of the land is hilly and covered in trees. The rest isn’t suitable for modern agriculture. We had an airstrip on the property at one point, which was used by the likes of Tiger Moth training aircraft, but that has also been closed.”
Philip has turned his hand to many things over the years and runs an escort business transporting oversized loads. His wife breeds horses, and he goes kayaking in his spare time. “I am currently involved escorting mobile homes,” he said. “We travel long distances, and it is interesting work. Obviously, we tell the police our plans and choose off-peak times.”
