The Body Shop: What went wrong and what happens next?

High street cosmetics and skincare retailer The Body Shop is set to shut dozens of stores and cut hundreds of jobs.

The company, which employs around 2,200 workers and has 198 UK stores, tumbled into administration last week in a bid to become “financially stable”.

On Tuesday, the administrators said they will immediately close seven stores, as part of plans to axe almost half of its current shop estate.

It represents a damning picture for the future of the business and its workforce.
