THIS MONTH
✢ Heavy periods
✢ Belly button bacteria
✢ Hepatitis A
Q I had jaundice and discovered I’d picked up hepatitis A. My GP told me to rest for a while and my system would sort it out. I want to know how on earth I caught it and what effect will it have on me long term? He was too busy to explain!
A Hepatitis A is incredibly common in countries where the water and sewage supplies are poor – an infected person passes the virus on through their bowel motions. Drinking dirty water contaminated with hepatitis A or eating fruit and veg that have been washed in contaminated water can result in infection.
