I was this old when I realised that the famous lion in the logo on tins of Lyle’s Golden Syrup was dead! I mean, seriously, is this just me?
My entire childhood of Nan and Grandad putting syrup on pretty much everything is based on a fantasy. In my head, the lion was always swimming in golden syrup bubbles. A nice image. But those bubbles are bees circling its corpse! Based on a Bible quotation about strength and sweetness, evidently.
