You’ve been in politics for over a decade. Were there any science or health issues you wanted to address when you first started?
When I entered politics, health and aged care were certainly not policy areas that I came to with hands-on experience. I come from an economics and agricultural background, so a lot of my early policy work was around agriculture and ensuring that our farmers in rural and regional Australia had good government policy.
