CRASH AND BASH AT MANUKAU

Twice postponed, but worth the wait. Off-road racing's national championship roared into action on 24 March at the Manukau International Offroad Stadium.

The racing had been scheduled to happen in late February but was postponed due to heavy rain. The new date, 23 March, gave the organisers more time to finesse the track, which has a speedway-style compacted clay surface. The jumps on the start-finish straight were re-profiled to eliminate a tendency to tail-kick race vehicles when they hit at full speed.
