Red gurnard are found in the eastern Atlantic Ocean ranging from southern Scotland, and very occasionally Norway, south to Mauritania, including the Madeira, the Azores and the Canary Islands. They are also found throughout the Mediterranean. They are typically caught in depths ranging from 50ft to over 1000ft, although their usual range is 100-800ft.
